Comedy debuts at El Capitan in Hollywood
In a year filled with high-profile R-rated comedies, “Dan in Real Life” hopes to succeed by being anything but.
“There’s not a mean bone in this movie’s body,” said Disney prexy Oren Aviv at the El Capitan preem on Oct. 24.
Producer Jonathan Shestack thought the pic would stand out in “a season with a lot of bad news and rough medicine.”
Marketing topper Jim Gallagher said the studio’s “strategic advantage is there are so many dark films in the marketplace. When you come out of this, you want to give someone a hug.”
