Kyle Howard, who returns as Bobby Newman when TBS’s “My Boys” bows Monday.
Last book I bought:
“The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell — It’s an old short story. You can read it in a sitting but it’s a total adventure.
Book I’m reading:
I’m reading a book on directing. It’s basically a textbook, super technical, not super exciting but I’ve gotta have a backup plan in case this whole acting thing doesn’t work out.
Total number of books I own:
One sec, gotta go count — 34 books and lots of magazines
Three books that mean a lot to me:
“The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger — So glad I didn’t read it in high school cuz I wouldn’t have gotten it. But man did I love it at 27.
“The Contortionist’s Handbook” by Craig Clevenger
Number three would have to be my personal notebook with all my special thoughts inside.
Last film I saw:
“Transformers,” directed by Michael Bay
Three films that mean a lot to me:
Penny Marshall’s “Big” — I loved it as a kid.
John Hughes’ “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” — I’ve seen it more than any other movie. This season’s finale of “My Boys” is a “day off” episode where we go do all the things Cam-eron and Ferris do in the movie (minus killing a Ferrari).
John Carney’s “Once” — a tiny Irish movie that was just incredible
Last CD I bought:
“Paper Television,” the Blow
Song currently playing:
“Musaboom (Postal Service Remix),” Feist
Songs that mean a lot to me:
“We Built This City,” Starship — I wanted to lip sync this song for my fifth grade talent show so bad. I didn’t get in. Ask me if I’m over it yet.
“F-stop Blues,” Jack Johnson
“I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” Death Cab for Cutie
Call me a girl, but I love a good Mai Tai.
Habitat for Humanity, Heal the Bay
Anywhere with waves — just got back from the Maldives. Amazing.
Coffee, for sure. It makes the most boring things so fun — driving in traffic, reading scripts, doing chores, filling out questionnaires for daily magazines. Everything is fun with coffee.
Five people whom I’d like to see answer this survey:
Jack Johnson then Zac Efron, Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney and Han-nah Montana
