VH1 checks into ‘Celebrity Rehab’

Network to feature stars from previous shows

A group of celebs who have appeared on VH1 reality series will soon appear in a new venue on the net: rehab.

Cabler is taking four or five personalities from its previous skeins and following them as they go through rehab, with well-known addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky attending to the group.

Several stars not previously seen on VH1 reality skeins will also appear; nine patients will be featured altogether.

Show, titled “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew,” will debut on Jan. 10. Net has ordered eight hourlong episodes.

John Irwin and Damian Sullivan are exec producing together with Pinsky and Howard Lapides.

VH1 did not announce the name of the rehabilitation facility involved, but sources said the show is being taped at the Pasadena Recovery Center, where Pinsky serves as a physician.

Net has also yet to reveal the identity of the celebs; it’s believed, however, that one is former “American Idol” contestant Jessica Sierra.Far from reveling in drinking or partying, series will be a serious take on the difficulties of going clean. “Celeb Rehab” will “give viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants,” net said in a statement.

Over the past few years, VH1 has heavily mined the celebreality genre; at present net has a number of shows, such as “Rock of Love” and “Scott Baio Is 45 and Single,” which follow the lives of current or former stars.
