TV Land taps Bill Clinton

Former president to tout programming

New York — Since leaving office six years ago, Bill Clinton has made appearances on behalf of tsunami victims in Asia, spoken in front of the Democratic National Convention, and made an appeal to the U.N. Climate Change conference.

Now he’ll be orating at … the TV Land upfront?

The net of “Knight Rider” and “Highway to Heaven” reruns has hired the former prez as a keynote speaker at a March 23 Gotham event touting its upcoming skeins.

Net will also be unveiling some original series that cater to that audience.

It’s a niche that makes demographic sense for the net within the Viacom empire. Nickelodeon and MTV, after all, already cater to kids and teenagers.

TV Land wouldn’t disclose what Clinton would say, but spokesman Paul Ward admitted it will have the heft for which the former prez’s speeches are known.

“You better believe it’s going to be about the economic and cultural and social influence of baby boomers,” he said. That, and some oblique references to “Knight Rider’s” KITT.
