Exec steps in for Murphy

MONTREAL — Karen Thorne-Stone has been tapped as the new president and CEO of the Ontario Media Development Corp. She will leave her job as Toronto film commissioner to take the top job at the Ontario film and TV funder.

Thorne-Stone will replace Kristine Murphy, who had been acting chief exec of the OMDC while the search was on for a permanent exec.

Thorne-Stone, who will begin her new job at the end of July, has worked for the city of Toronto for 18 years in various positions, including film commissioner and executive director of economic development.

Murphy will return to her position as director of industry development at the Ontario Media Development Corp.
