Sony TV Int’l lifts Lerner to sr. VP

Exec oversees development, production

HOLLYWOOD — Sony Pictures Television Intl. has promoted Jeffrey Lerner to senior VP of development and current programs, reporting to Steve Kent, senior exec VP for international production.

Based at SPTI headquarters in Culver City, Lerner oversees the development and production of projects in multiple genres, including sitcoms, soaps, gabbers, dramas and reality shows.

His responsibilities extend from the U.S. to encompass the U.K., Russia, Spain, Latin America and Poland. Most recently, he handled “Born Ugly,” the hit primetime telenovela for CTC in Russia.

Lerner joined SPTI in 1998 as VP, development and current programs. He spent the first five years of his TV career on the NBC drama “Santa Barbara,” the last two as producer. He left the sudser to develop series for France’s TeleImages and later served stints as a talkshow and musicvideo producer.
