Reubens to watch alien in ‘Area 52’

Sutherland gets 'Dirty Sexy'


Casting — Paul Reubens has joined the cast of “Area 52,” a half-hour laffer about a group of government employees who keep watch over an alien. Reubens will play the alien in the NBC U TV Studio-produced pilot, which is being directed by Dean Parisot.

Casting comes on the heels of Reubens’ well-reviewed guest turn on a recent episode of “30 Rock.” Thesp also has a role in “Reno 911! Miami.”

“Area 52” would mark the first time Reubens has starred in a primetime laffer for a broadcast net since “Murphy Brown.” More recently, he’s had a recurring role on FX’s “Dirt.”


Pickup— “Eight Days a Week,” a half-hour comedy from exec producer Sean Hayes about four twentysomething pals working for the power brokers of New York City. Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin wrote the pilot and will exec produce along with Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills. CBS Paramount Network Television is the studio.


Casting – Donald Sutherland, who most recently starred in ABC’s “Commander in Chief,” is back at the Alphabet net and starring in the drama “Dirty Sexy Money.” Thesp will play Tripp on the pilot, which comes from ABC TV Studio. Thesp also recently starred in Lifetime’s mini “Human Trafficking.”

Casting – Bonnie Sommerville (“Kitchen Confidential”) will star as one of the four principals in “Cashmere Mafia,” the drama from Darren Star and Sony Pictures TV.

Casting – Arielle Kebbel (“John Tucker Must Die”) is set to play Nicole, the younger sister of Kiele Sanchez’s character, on “Football Wives.” ABC TV Studio produces.

Casting – Anna Camp will play Meg Wheeler, while Ian Kahn is on board as Peter Hudgins, in the untitled Rina Mimoun drama from Warner Bros. TV.

Casting — Faith Ford, last seen on ABC in “Hope & Faith,” has joined the cast of the Alphabet’s comedy “Carpoolers.” Ford, best known for her long stint on “Murphy Brown,” will play Leila on the ABC TV Studio-produced pilot.


Casting – Andrea Parker (“Less Than Perfect”) will play Susan on “Deeply Irresponsible,” the comedy pilot from Victor Fresco and 20th Century Fox TV.
