European games to be televised

NBA TV is going abroad with its coverage this fall: Starting Saturday, the network will air NBA Europe games featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies.

Net will also cover NBA China Games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and the Team China All-Stars.

Saturday’s Raptors/Celtics game in Rome will rep a homecoming for Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani, who hails from the city and is the first European to have been the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft (in 2006).

“Europe is very bullish on basketball,” observed Danny Meiseles, NBA TV senior VP of production, programming and broadcasting. “We saw that the fans want to see it in real time last year.”

With the exception of one Istanbul game, the matches will be broadcast live.
