TV vet worked on 'Scarecrow,' 'Glory Years'

Assistant director Michael B. Smidt died August 10 in Venice, Fla. He was 47.

Smidt, the adopted son of late production designer and director Burr Smidt and producer Renee Valente, served as second assistant director on shows including “The Scarecrow and Mrs. King,” “Glory Years,” “Addicted to His Love,” miniseries “Around the World in 80 Days,” “False Witness” and “For Their Own Good.”

He is survived by his mother and two sisters.
