Actor bumps up ratings and romance
Rob Lowe has found a home on ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” which he’ll join as a full-fledged cast member next season.
Since Lowe joined the sudser earlier this year, “Brothers & Sisters” has seen its Nielsen results increase. Show recently scored a second-season order from the Alphabet net.
Lowe plays conservative Sen. Robert McCallister, a romantic foil to Calista Flockhart’s character.
Thesp was originally slated to guest star in just a handful of episodes. But his first “Brothers & Sisters” appearance last November matched the show’s series high in adults 18-49, and he ultimately signed on for the full season as a “special guest star” (Daily Variety, Jan. 5).
“He brings a unique romantic addition to the show by his combination of wit and charm and his elegance,” said exec producer Jon Robin Baitz. “The great discovery of it is there’s such an intrinsic chemistry between him and Calista, which is so rare to find in two actors together. He’s been a tremendous boon to the show in terms of storylines and even the ratings.”
Lowe’s recent credits include the upcoming thriller “Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming” and the satire “Thank You for Smoking.” Besides his stint on “The West Wing,” Lowe’s TV credits include “The Lyon’s Den” and “Dr. Vegas.”
