Lifetime gives go-ahead to ‘Island’

Network greenlights Brown, Bender drama

Lifetime has greenlit “Long Island Confidential,” a new drama from feature producers Kevin Brown and Lawrence Bender, who are teaming with “Cold Case” scribe Jan Oxenberg.

Cabler has picked up a pilot for the drama, to be produced by ABC Studios. Potential skein revolves around a homicide detective who returns to her Long Island home, where she discovers her past is still a factor.

Guy Bee (“Criminal Minds,” “Veronica Mars”) is set to direct the pilot. Despite the New York setting, pilot will lense in Toronto.

Oxenberg, most recently co-exec producer of NBC’s short-lived “Kidnapped,” wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Bender and Brown.

Bender and Brown’s recent TV forays include the Rob Lowe skein “Dr. Vegas.” On the film front, Bender’s credits range from “Pulp Fiction” to “An Inconvenient Truth.” Brown’s resume includes the WB series “Roswell.”
