Varo to handle development for network
Lifetime is expanding its reality team, hiring CBS exec Sandy Varo to a top post.
Varo will handle reality development at the net and report to Lifetime reality programming senior VP Jessica Samet, who made the announcement Thursday.
“Sandy’s wide-ranging reality TV background, including positions in both broadcast and cable networks, as well as in production, makes her a huge asset to Lifetime’s reality department,” Samet said.
Varo most recently served as director of alternative series at CBS, where she worked on shows including “The Amazing Race,” “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “Rock Star.”
Before that, she was a producer on Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and a story producer on CBS’ “Big Brother.” She has also worked on projects for Discovery Health and TLC as a producer for Film Garden Entertainment, and served as a producer on MSNBC’s “Headliners & Legends.”
Lifetime’s reality slate include the second season of “Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead” and the frosh entry “America’s Psychic Challenge,” both of which air Fridays starting this October. Cabler also has the new entry “How to Look Good Naked,” starring Carson Kressley, in January.
