Dear Editor,

Would the owners of the Queen Mary in Long Beach scuttle it to make way for a bait shop? Would the owners of the Bradbury Building tear it down and replace it with a mini-mall? Would CBS dismantle the Todd-AO music scoring stage at CBS/Radford to create more office space?

Apparently, yes, at least to the third question.

A venerable and irreplaceable room — still in constant use, the only building in the country specifically built for scoring films, a building where Heifitz, Herrmann, Copland and Goldsmith recorded — will be gutted soon so that CBS can create more office space (Daily Variety V-Plus, Aug. 23.)

How can anyone possibly think that this is good idea? As a musician who has worked at this stage for more than 25 years, I hope that someone comes to their senses soon.
