Jamba brings in new blood

New hires include Fenton, Anderson

Fox Mobile venture Jamba has hired a number of execs as it puts its revamped operations into gear.

Company has brought on Vodafone exec Lee Fenton as managing director and chief operating officer; he’ll head up global product marketing and technology initiatives.

It also has hired Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment chief financial officer Mark Anderson for the CFO post at Jamba, where he will be responsible for global finance and business strategy and mergers and acquisitions, among other responsibilities.

Jamba also has promoted managing director Markus Berger-de Leon to chief sales officer.

Jamba is a joint venture formed earlier this year between Fox’s Hollywood-based Jamster division and digital media firm Jamba, based in Germany.

Fox Mobile historically has overseen initiatives ranging from text-message voting for “American Idol” to distribution of “Borat” mobisodes.

Jamba CEO Lucy Hood said that the venture’s focus would be on marketing content not only from Fox but also from other media outfits, such as MTV, NBC U and Universal Music.

Company also wants to find balance between regional and global content. One goal of the venture is to mine foreign markets for internationally friendly properties such as “24” and “The Simpsons.”

Congloms have been trying to transform mobile from a promotional vehicle to a revenue-generating business, much as they did several years ago with online; ad sales, in particular, have become a growing priority in the mobile realm.
