New name reflects spirit of Heath's agency

ICM London, the U.K.-based talent agency chaired by Duncan Heath, has finally changed its name to Independent Talent Group, or Independent for short, five years after its management buyout from ICM Inc.

“We always knew that we would change our name following the management buyout,” said Heath. “We chose the name Independent as it mirrors the reality that we created … and also is a reflection of the spirit of the company and the fact that we control our own destiny.”

Independent has 90 staffers, including 27 agents, who own the company jointly with Heath.

Along with its core business of repping actors, directors, writers, producers and below-the-line talent, it has branched out into new areas, including models and TV presenters.

Clients include Paul Greengrass, Joe Wright, Matthew Vaughn, Mike Newell, Daniel Craig and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

ICM Models, now renamed Independent Models, launched in 2003 and has rapidly become one of the world’s leading model agencies.

Heath sold his original agency, Duncan Heath Associates, to ICM in 1984. He runs Independent with co-chairman Paul Lyon-Maris and managing directors Lyndsey Posner and Sally Long-Innes.
