History Channel has beefed up its programming department by hiring Dirk Hoogstra and Charles Nordlander and promoting Dolores Gavin.
Each of the three execs assumes the title of veepee of development and programming and reports to David McKillop, senior VP of development and programming.
“We want to keep the ratings up, which is not easy in a strong competitive environment,” McKillop said.
Hoogstra was previously VP of development for TLC; Nordlander was VP of program development for Food Network. Gavin joined History in 2000, rising to director of programming in 2004. She is also exec producer of “Ice Road Truckers,” the channel’s biggest original-series hit.
