Another season of 'Entourage' also on deck
HBO has picked up quirky musical-comedy series “Flight of the Conchords” for a second season and “Entourage” for a fifth.Pay cabler has ordered an undisclosed number of episodes of “Conchords,” which stars deadpan New Zealanders Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. The current 12-episode season wraps in early September. Both shows will return in 2008, likely airing back to back, as they do currently. It’s unclear if “Entourage” will again have a supersized season, as it did this year. “Conchords” has built a steady following since debuting behind “Entourage” earlier this summer, particularly with younger viewers. Strong online interest is reflected on bulletin boards and music sites. “Conchords” renewal marks a success for the net in the Sunday 10:30 slot, a time that’s sometimes proved tricky for the net. News follows word earlier this week that HBO’s other summer debut, David Milch surfer-drama “John From Cincinnati,” won’t be picked up for a second season. “Entourage” is the second-longest-running show currently on the pay net. Net also recently picked up a third season of polygamy drama “Big Love” and in September is set to bring back a sixth season of its longest-running primetime series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” as well as bow relationship skein “Tell Me You Love Me.”
