New dept. chief, Earley, taps executive help

New Fox marketing chief Joe Earley has firmed up his team, luring department alum Laurel Bernard back to the network and handing promotions to two more execs.

Bernard has been named senior VP of marketing, while Nick Belperio has been upped to senior VP of affiliate marketing. Also, Michelle Garry has been named vice prexy in the affiliate marketing department.

Bernard’s and Belperio’s positions handle oversight formerly overseen by Kaye Bentley, who has departed. Bentley, who is moving to Tennessee, will still serve as an advisor to Fox’s marketing team.

Bernard returns to Fox following a year-long stint over at Fox Searchlight Films. She and Belperio will report to Earley, while Garry reports to Belperio.

Earley said, “Each is an extraordinary executive who has provided leadership and uncommon creativity, raising our national and local marketing efforts to new heights.”

Under the revived structure, Bernard will oversee national media buying, planning and promotional marketing teams for Fox; Belperio is in charge of Fox’s affiliate marketing team and the programming staff for “Fox’s All-Access Radio.”

Together, Bernard and Belperio will help brainstorm the net’s marketing objectives, and work closely with Fox marketing’s on-air promotion group.

As for Garry, the exec will work closely with the affiliate marketing staff and also serve as point person for marketers at Fox’s more than 200 affiliates.

Bernard first joined News Corp. in 1989 as a media coordinator at Fox’s theatrical division; she later moved to Fox Home Entertainment and then Fox Broadcasting, where she was VP of national media. Properties she’s been instrumental in promoting include “Family Guy,” “House,” “24,” “Prison Break” and “American Idol,” as well as theatricals “Castaway,” “Fight Club,” “Ice Age” and “Little Miss Sunshine.”

Belperio has been with Fox since 1997, when he joined as VP of affiliate marketing; before that, he was creative services director at Cincinnati Fox outlet WXIX. Garry also joined the net in 1997 as manager of affiliate marketing; she previously was at Dallas’ KDAF.
