Celebs gather for good cause

HOLLYWOOD — Hollywood’s young at heart rallied for society’s young at risk Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Sidney and Joanna Poitier, Jacqueline Bisset and Kirk Douglas cheered on as Larry and Shawn King feted Annette Bening and Warren Beatty with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Stem Cell Champions nod.

Neil Sedaka closed out the show by leading a spirited sing-along to his ever popular “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” and “Calendar Girl.” “Songs of the ’50s and ’60s may be a little naive but you can understand all the lyrics,” Sedaka told the crowd .

Evening also saw producer George Schlatter honored with the org’s Angel Award. Gala focused on raising money and awareness for finding a cure for juvenile diabetes through stem cell research.
