Khanna leaves Canadian broadcaster
Chum TV without its five City-tv stations is no place for Roma Khanna, senior VP of content and Chum co-head. She is ankling the Toronto-based broadcaster Friday, just days after CEO Jay Switzer announced that he’s leaving.
Chum’s new owner, CTVglobemedia, was forced to sell the City-tv stations to get approval for its takeover from regulator the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission. Rogers Media acquired the stations.
In a memo to staff, Khanna wrote that the CRTC decision “results in my role as the head of content for Chum Television ceasing to exist. Without City-tv in the mix, many of the parts that make my job great are no longer here.” Khanna, who had been at Chum for four years, said CTVglobemedia CEO Ivan Fecan had been unable to find her an exec position at the company.
