Network picks up Davies project

CBS is in the money, ordering the gameshow pilot “Power of 10″ — in which contestants can win as much as $10 million.

Pilot, from “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” exec producer Michael Davies, follows contestants as they try to guess the results of nationwide surveys a la “Family Feud.”

After that, the winner is put in the hot seat and must answer just five questions. The catch: Each answer increases in value by multiples of 10 — starting with $1,000 and ending up at $10 million.

Davies will exec produce through his Embassy Row Prods. shingle, while Sony Pictures TV (where Davies has a deal) is aboard to distribute.

“Power of 10″ is an original format from Embassy Row.

Davies’ credits include “Wife Swap,” “2 Minute Drill,” “Play for a Billion,” “Studio 7″ and “My Kind of Town.”

“Power of 10″ is the latest in a slate of quizzers in development at the Eye. CBS is also developing another version of “Name That Tune,” while producer Phil Gurin is working on a trust-themed gameshow at the net.
