Original movie sequel nets 6.97 million viewers
The Disney Channel’s original movie sequel “Twitches Too” racked up 6.96 million total viewers in its 90-minute Friday premiere, making it the most-watched program on basic cable for the night — beating out the National League Championship Series on TBS.
The lead-out show from “Twitches,” the debut of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Disney’s newest live-action half-hour series, harvested 5.93 million viewers to become the most-watched series episode on basic cable for the night.
“Twitches” was up 94% in total viewers from the time-period average in 2006; “Wizards” outperformed last year’s time period in viewers by an excellent 57%.
More than one-third of all kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 watching TV were tuned in to “Twitches,” a Halloween-themed made-for featuring real-life sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry as witches. “Wizards” is about three suburban American kids who also happen to be sorcerers.
Among persons 12-34, “Twitches” helped Disney Channel garner a higher score (2.7 rating/11 share) than any broadcast net in the 8-9:30 timeslot.
