Event raised $3.7 million for Fulfillment Fund

HOLLYWOOD — NBC U brought out Hollywood’s big players for some big-scale fund-raising at Tuesday’s BevHilton dinner honoring Marc Shmuger.

Turnout for the event, which raised $3.7 million for the Fulfillment Fund, ranged from top execs Jeff Zucker, Ron Meyer and David Linde to U-based talent including Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Paul Weitz, with “Knocked Up” star Seth Rogen acting as emcee.

Sidney Poitier presented the org’s first Visionary Award to founders Cherna and Dr. Gary Gitnick, who noted that the mentoring org “is not a charity. The people we help owe us. And the only way they can pay us back is returning to their communities and becoming mentors themselves.”

Sinbad and Tom Sherak presided over an auction that raised more than $500,000; Jamie Foxx had the 1,200-strong aud on its feet for his 20-minute musical perf; and Vince Vaughn presented the award to Shmuger.
