Oz terrestrial network Ten will join local pay TV operator Foxtel’s digital platform in September, leaving rival Seven the lone analog holdout.
Ten’s digital signal will be available to satellite subscribers in Brisbane; Melbourne and Geelong; Sydney and the NSW central coast; and cable subscribers in Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast; Melbourne; Perth; and Sydney. Ten’s HD channel will air in 2008.
Ten joins other free-to-air networks Nine and pubcasters SBS, ABC and ABC2.
Last year, Nine beat Seven in network share by 0.4 of a percentage point last year. Seven’s absence from Foxtel was seen as the difference between an overall win or loss.
