‘Sunrise’ returns to TV3

Morning show delayed for almost a year

After a delay of nearly a year, this summer Kiwi broadcaster TV3 will bow “Sunrise,” its first daily breakfast show since launching in 1989.

“Sunrise” will air from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and offer news and information, as well as info on the Rugby World Cup, for which the channel has exclusive rights.

News and current affairs director Mark Jennings said the show had been delayed several times. It was set back last September when TV3 majority shareholder CanWest Global Communications announced it was selling its 70% stake.

Sale took eight months, but new controlling shareholder, Ironbridge Capital, gave “Sunrise” the greenlight.
