NBC is moving forward with comedy pilot “Zip” and is in talks with helmer Richard Shepard (“The Matador”) to direct.
Peacock has given a cast-contingent order to the project, about a drifter who ends up living the good life in BevHills. It was first developed last season by Ben Silverman, who’s now heading up the net’s entertainment division.
Mark Rizzo wrote the pilot and will serve as supervising producer, with Michael Benson and Marc Abrams serving as exec producers. Pilot will be produced by Reveille and Catapult in association with Universal Media Studios. Silverman and Teri Weinberg, who had been attached as producers, are no longer aboard due to their Peacock gigs.
Shepard’s recent credits include “The Hunting Party” and “Ugly Betty.”
