Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix, is slated to receive the Trailblazer Award at the eighth Woodstock Film Festival in October.
The kudo honors film industry figures whose innovations change the business. Past recipients include Jonathan Sehring of IFC and John Sloss of Cinetic Media.
At Netflix, Sarandos has given a boost to indie filmmakers by expanding distribution opportunities and creating the original content initiative known as Red Envelope. One pic under the banner, the doc “Steal a Pencil for Me,” will screen at Woodstock.
The fest, which features 140 films, concerts, panels and other events, runs Oct. 10-14.
