Sarafian home at ‘House’

Director joins Fox show

Helmer Deran Sarafian is joining Fox’s “House.”

Sarafian has inked a deal to come onboard the NBC U-produced skein as co-exec producer and inhouse director. He’ll helm every third episode of the drama, which ended the season as TV’s No. 2 scripted series (behind only “Grey’s Anatomy”).

Most recently, Sarafian impressed Fox execs with his work as director on the pilot of the 20th Century Fox TV produced drama “K-Ville.” Project, which stars Anthony Anderson (“The Shield”), has been picked up to series.

Helmer’s directed a number of “House” segs, including last year’s third season premiere.

“Every season, we’ve been having him direct more and more, and now we’re lucky enough to have him on fulltime,” “House” exec producer Katie Jacobs told Daily Variety. “He’s an amazing visual storyteller who’s quick on his feet and great with the cast.”

Hiring of Sarafian comes in the wake of the departure of Dan Sackheim, who had been serving as inhouse helmer for “House.” Sackheim ankled to take a gig as helmer and exec producer on NBC’s new fall series “Life” (Daily Variety, May 22).

Sarafian’s other TV credits include “Lost” and a slew of CBS crime dramas, including “CSI” (and its two spinoffs), as well as “Cold Case” and “Without a Trace.”
