FitzPatrick appointed to VP position

Paul FitzPatrick has been appointed to a newly created exec VP position at RHI Entertainment and will report to the company’s chief operating officer, Peter von Gal.

FitzPatrick will oversee all of RHI’s new-media initiatives, serve as its principal liaison with the multichannel industry and work on a variety of corporate ventures.

Most recently, FitzPatrick consulted with RHI on its foray into new media, following a tenure as exec VP and COO of Crown Media, owner and operator of the Hallmark Channel.

“RHI is committed to becoming a leader in new-media development, production and distribution. Paul’s impressive track record, powerful vision and broad experience will help RHI achieve its goals,” von Gal said.

RHI currently delivers 40-60 projects a year, mostly longform fiction, to various distribution platforms worldwide.

For 30 years, FitzPatrick has held leadership positions in both cable programming and publishing. Prior to joining Crown Media in 2000, he served as COO of the Golf Channel and as president of the Weather Channel and NewsTalk TV, a nicher he founded in the early ’90s. In the 1980s, FitzPatrick was prexy of C-SPAN.

Before his career in cable programming, FitzPatrick worked in publishing, serving as editor-in-chief and COO of Denver-based Titsch Publishing. He also worked in the White House Office of Telecommunications Policy, the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the Office of the Governor of Colorado and the Aspen Institute.
