After starring in ABC’s “Sports Night” and HBO’s “Six Feet Under,” Krause wasn’t looking for another series. So when he was approached about starring in the new ABC fall drama “Dirty Sexy Money” by the show’s creator Craig Wright, Krause said no. Three times.
“I wasn’t ready to commit to a long-term project,” Krause explains. “But Craig won me over. It’s tough to find good material — in films or TV.”
“Dirty Sexy Money” — about the attorney for a wealthy dysfunctional family — features a large ensemble, but, unlike Krause’s previous series, its success rests squarely on the shoulders of his character, good-guy lawyer Nick George, who’s in nearly every scene. For the show to connect with viewers, Krause will have to make the somewhat despicable characters surrounding Nick sympathetic to the audience while keeping Nick likable as his morality and ethics are tested.
If Krause can carry that off, he should prepare himself for a truly long-term commitment.
