Newly minted Overture Films has beefed up its marketing division by tapping Elana Sulzer senior VP of media.
She’ll report to Peter Adee, hired earlier this year as head of marketing, distribution and new media. Adee made the announcement Monday.
Prior to joining Overture, Sulzer was VP of media at Universal, where she developed and executed ad strategies for an average of 16 films per year, including “The Mummy” franchise, “Seabiscuit,” “Ray” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” She supervised media planning and buying on cable, new media, network television and syndication.
Sulzer started her career at U nearly a decade ago.
Earlier this year, Overture made its first acquisition by picking up U.S. rights to “Ferris Wheel,” starring Charlize Theron. The banner’s in active development on “105 Degrees and Rising” with Echo Lake Entertainment and is co-financing caper comedy “Mad Money,” starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes. Latter is in production and will be released by Overture.
