Numbers rise at Japan’s Tiffcom

Market's attendance up 16.4%

TOKYO — More industryites than ever before attended the Tokyo Intl. Film Festival’s fourth Tiffcom market, held Oct. 22 to 24 at the Roppongi Hill business and entertainment complex in Tokyo.

Attendance was 17,035, up 16.4% from the previous year. Some 3,505 buyers, producers, investors and other industryites registered for the mart, up 19.9% from the previous year. Of this number, 957 came from 39 foreign countries, up 24% from 2006, with Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong leading the list.

Meanwhile, 172 companies and orgs took booths, compared with 163 last year.

The market featured various events, including the Location Market, the Tokyo Project Gathering market and a number of seminars and symposiums, including a new Casting Forum that featured speakers from Hollywood and Europe on the art of casting pics.
