No kick for Univision

Revenues dip 7% in second quarter

Numero uno U.S. Hispanic broadcaster Univision saw revenues dip 7% to $562.2 million in the second quarter as it swung to a loss of $19.5 million from a profit of $107.4 million the previous year.

However, the network noted that revenues were up 8.2% on the previous period if it excluded bonus revs from the FIFA World Cup last year.

TV revenues were down 11% to $433.7 million, while Internet revs rose 10% to $11.4 million, and radio grew 12.3% to $117.1 million.

New owners, led by the Saban Group, sold the company’s music recording and publishing business, so they are not included in these results.

Company said that in the second quarter, it earned the No. 3 ranking in Nielsen ratings among the 18-34 demo nationwide, surpassing NBC, CBS and the CW.
