New Line has elevated Christina Kounelias to exec VP of marketing under a restructuring undertaken by the mini-major three weeks before “The Golden Compass” bows.
Kounelias, formerly exec VP of publicity and corporate communications, will gain oversight of strategic marketing efforts, reporting to domestic marketing prexy Chris Carlisle. Kounelias will continue to oversee New Line’s PR activities and award campaigns.
Carlisle replaced Russell Schwartz in the marketing post in August. New Line’s 2008 pipeline includes “Semi-Pro” and the bigscreen adaptation of “Sex and the City.”
Kounelias first joined the company in 1991, exiting in 1997 before returning as exec veep of PR and corporate communications in 2001. During her four-year break from New Line, she served as senior VP of PR and corporate communications for Fox Broadcasting. Previously, Kounelias was VP of publicity for Miramax. While there, she started the company’s inhouse PR department.
