NBC is putting the finishing touches on its “Knight Rider” remake, setting a premiere date and casting “Arrested Development” star Will Arnett in a key role.
Arnett will supply the voice of KITT, the human-like car at the heart of the show. William Daniels did the honors in the original 1980s series.
Peacock will bow the new “Knight” on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 9 p.m., airing a two-hour pic that will serve as a backdoor pilot for the project. Doug Liman (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”) is exec producing the project, which has been on a fast track under Peacock entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman (Daily Variety, ).
Arnett’s vocal talents have been in demand lately. He appeared in this year’s animated hit “Ratatouille” and has a part in next year’s “Horton Hears a Who!” Recent on-camera roles include “Blades of Glory” and a recurring role on the Peacock’s “30 Rock.”
