Chris Moseley has joined the History Channel as senior VP of marketing after a six year stint as exec VP and chief marketing officer for the Hallmark Channel.
Broadening the definition of history is one of Moseley’s priorities in the new job, and she cites such History Channel series as “Ice Road Trucker.” “It tells stories about people who face death-defying conditions in their job,” she said. “But it also puts the truckers into a bigger anthropological context” to justify scheduling the show on History Channel.
Moseley succeeds Mike Mohamad, who has shifted to senior VP of new-business development and partnerships for A&E, History and the other A&E networks.
During Moseley’s tenure at Hallmark, the web tripled its rating and ad revenues and added tens of millions of subscribers to reach its current total of 82.6 million. (History’s circulation is 93.2 million.)
Before Hallmark, Moseley served for 10 years as senior VP of marketing for Discovery Communications, helping to launch TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel and other Discovery-owned nets.
