Olympic Gold medalist signs on to VOD service
Olympic Gold medalist Jonny Moseley has signed a deal with fledgling VOD service the Ski Channel to serve in several capacities, including on-air host and channel spokesman.
Moseley will make a financial investment in the video-on-demand service, expected to launch early next year (Daily Variety, April 30). He’ll also serve as an advisory staff member and become the face of the Ski Channel as an analyst, instructor and host.
“Jonny is to skiing what Michael Jordan is to basketball or Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras are to tennis,” said Ski Channel founder and CEO Steve Bellamy. He is also “a roll-up-your-sleeves type of guy who will add value to the channel on a daily basis across a broad array of disciplines.”
Moseley is no stranger to TV, having hosted MTV’s “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” for three years, as well as hosting various programs for CBS, CSTV, HGTV, Fox Sports Net and Fine Living.
New deal is not exclusive; Moseley will still serve as a TV personality for other nets as well. At the Ski Channel, he’ll host an interview show tentatively titled “Air It Out With Jonny Moseley” and star in a serious of instructional videos to be distributed on the channel and on DVD.
