Lacroix to head CBC

Lawyer named CEO of public broadcaster

Montreal lawyer Hubert Lacroix will be the next president and CEO of pubcaster the Canadian Broadcasting Corp, replacing Robert Rabinovitch who steps down Dec. 31.

Lacroix faces quite a challenge. Unlike its French sibling, the English-language CBC is struggling to find auds and has been criticizedfor trying to grab ratings by skedding reality programming.

Lacroix was executive chairman of Canuck media firm Telemedia Corp. He is also a law professor at Montreal U.
