KARLOVY VARY, Czech Republic — Renee Zellweger had her own wardrobe malfunction when she opened the 42nd Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic’s idyllic spa town on Friday. Zellweger came to present a Crystal Globe to Czech animation legend Bretislav Pojar. Having studied up on his 40-year body of work and learned some local language, she arrived primed but without her luggage.
She was thus forced to appear in front of several hundred black-tie attendees wearing blue jeans. Nevertheless, she made the best of it and managed a gracious tribute to Pojar, calling his work “profoundly wise.” Other fest attendees who didn’t seem to mind the thesp’s casual wear were Czech President Vaclav Klaus and fest’s jury head, Daily Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart.
