ICM dismisses Limato-trained agents

Talbot, Konigsberg, Eskander all past assistants

As ICM and Ed Limato’s attorneys continue to work toward a settlement of his contract, the agency dismissed three young agents who trained on Limato’s desk.

DJ Talbot, a motion picture lit agent and talent agents Richard Konigsberg and Matt Eskander were let go Monday evening in a move the agency attributed as a continued restructuring of the department.

Clearly, the timing was triggered by Friday’s demotion of Limato from co-president to motion picture agent, because Limato took pride in the fact that the assistants who served under him eventually got their agent stripes, and he was protective of them.

The three agents were just getting established, trying to create opportunities for young talent, and repping some established talent as part of teams that are supervised by senior agents.

The agency isn’t eliminating every vestige of Limato, however: his former assistant, Justin Deanda, was promoted from motion picture department coordinator to agent. Deanda will work on teams that rep the movie careers of crossover talent like Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo and Chris Brown.

As for Limato’s current assistants, they continue to show up at the dealmaker’s office each day. Limato was in his office at ICM’s Century City headquarters Tuesday, servicing his clients as his lawyers worked to extricate him before a scheduled Aug. 1 hearing in which an arbitrator would settle a contract that runs through 2010.

That hardly means it is business as usual: Limato was not expected to attend a Wednesday staff meeting, the first one scheduled since Friday’s blockbuster news.

He will continue to work there until he’s free to join another agency, or jumpstart his own company with longtime clients Denzel Washington, Mel Gibson, Richard Gere, Steve Martin, Liam Neeson and Billy Crystal.
