Gough Wehrenberg reups at NBC

Programming exec stays put, promoted

At least one member of the old regime at NBC is sticking around, with the net Tuesday announcing current programming exec Erin Gough Wehrenberg has reupped at the net — and snagged a promotion to boot.

Gough Wehrenberg has been upped to exec VP for current series at NBC Entertainment, a gig that gives her day-to-day oversight of existing Peacock dramas and comedies, from “Heroes” to “The Office.” She’ll report to NBC Entertainment co-chairmen Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff.

Move comes in the wake of extensive exec turmoil at the Peacock, with Kevin Reilly exiting, studio chief Angela Bromstad stepping down and development chief Katherine Pope moving to the studio.

Silverman has already worked with Gough Wehrenberg on “The Office,” and said he wanted to work with her to “maximize the potential of the NBC primetime lineup.”

Graboff called Gough Wehrenberg “the ultimate team player.”

He said NBC plans to reshape its current team to make it a “gatekeeper” for potential product integration ideas and online extensions.

“We’re going to use them as the hub of a brand management team for all of our shows,” he said. “We want advertisers at the table now, when our writers are breaking stories. Erin will be spearheading all that.”

Gough Wehrenberg had been senior VP of current since May 2004, taking on the gig just as Reilly entered. She was upped to head of the department in August 2006.

Before moving into current programming, Gough Wehrenberg worked in comedy development from 2002 until 2004. She’s been an employee at NBC since 1995, having previously been an intern at the net.
