Gossett Jr. packs bags for Big Easy

Oscar winner to help rebuild New Orleans

Oscar winning actor and activist Louis Gossett, Jr. will host “ReNew Orleans,” a seven part TV series about building a new community center in New Orleans.

Damon Harman, CEO of DNA Creative Media, which will produce the show, selected Gossett because of his renowned community involvement.

Gossett, who won a Best Actor Oscar in 1983 for “An Officer and a Gentleman,” started the Eracism Foundation to eliminate racism around the globe. He’s also a Board of Directors member of the Challenger’s Club, a Los Angeles community center.

“I am deeply moved by any project that restores people who are down and out to their proper place in the world,” Gossett said.
