Gandolfini sets new project

Attaboy Films to produce 'Alive Day Memories'

James Gandolfini has moved from Holsten’s Diner to the battlefields of Iraq.

In his first post-“Sopranos” project, Gandolfini is exec producing the documentary “Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq” for his Attaboy Films production shingle. Doc, which covers soldiers’ physical and emotional trauma, will air Sept. 9 on HBO.

Gandolfini also steps in front of the camera as he interviews 10 soldiers about their feelings on the war, their disabilities and devotion to America.

“Memories” is the cabler’s third doc on the war, following “Baghdad ER” and “Last Letters Home: Voices of American Troops From the Battlefields of Iraq.”

Sheila Nevins also exec produces. Jon Alpert and Ellen Goosenberg direct.
