Fremantle boosts Asia ranks

Peplow to oversee rollout of participation TV

HONG KONG — FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) is boosting its presence in the region with a slew of appointments and promotions.

Malti Peplow will be director of sponsorship and interactive for Asia, a newly created position. Peplow will be in charge of boosting FME’s brands through consumer products, telephony and voting, live events, interactive and wireless, and sponsorship.

Some of the brands include “Indonesian Idol,” “Singapore Idol,” “Indian Idol,” “The Price Is Right” and “Family Feud.”

Peplow also will oversee the development of advertiser-funded TV and digital programs, as well as the rollout of participation TV.

She will be based in Singapore and report to Jon Penn, veep of Asia Pacific, who is based in Sydney.

Previously, she was senior manager of content and production for regional digital media at MTV Networks Asia Pacific.

In Sydney, FME appointed Ben Liebmann veep of Australia and New Zealand, another newly created position.

Liebmann will oversee brand licensing, sponsorship, interactive and mobile businesses.

He previously was a director at interactive media and marketing company Opera Interactive, where he was responsible for the development of new business. He has also worked with Vodafone Australia and Warner Music Australia.

Assisting Liebmann will be Olivia Arnold, who was promoted to manager of licensing and sponsorship for Australia and New Zealand. Arnold has been with FME since 2004.

Across the country in Melbourne is Emma Gordon, who was promoted to editor of, a site developed and managed by FME to support the drama series “Neighbours.” Gordon also handles international publicity requests for the show.

“Asia Pacific is an increasingly important ancillary rights market for us, and these appointments and promotions are indicative of how seriously we view the region,” Penn said.
