NBC Universal has upped John Eck to president of NBC TV Network, giving him oversight of network operations and affiliate relations in addition to Media Works.
In his former role as president of Media Works and chief information officer of NBC Universal, Eck oversaw technology, studio operations and film and TV production, including facilities at 30 Rock, Burbank and Universal City.
With the promotion, Eck will be responsible for NBC net’s relationship with its 200 broadcast affiliates. He will continue to report to NBC U CEO Jeff Zucker.
Eck’s new functions are part of the broad portfolio once overseen by Jay Ireland, who left NBC Universal to become CEO of GE Asset Management. Last week NBCU assigned another area of Ireland’s former portfolio to John Wallace, who became president of NBC’s owned-and-operated stations.
NBC U has not yet announced an exec to oversee Telemundo stations, which were also under Ireland before he left for GE.
