Dune Capital Partners has named Village Roadshow Pictures founder Greg Coote chairman and CEO of the hedge fund’s new production company, Dune Entertainment. Larry Bernstein, who has been a financial consultant to Dune Entertainment since 2005, has been tapped chief financial officer of the production entity.
Last month, Dune Entertainment inked a $500 million three-year slate financing deal with 20th Century Fox, following two earlier co-financing pacts between the companies.
Dune Capital partner Chip Seelig praised Coote for “his close relationship with 20th Century Fox and others in the Hollywood community, (which) will ease our transition into the production business.”
Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen and CEOs Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman said: “Greg has been a valued friend and a key player in the film industry for many years. We’re thrilled to be working with him to continue and expand our enormously successful relationship with Chip Seelig and Dune Capital.”
Coote’s career also included a stint as managing director of Rupert Murdoch’s TV interests in Coote’s native Australia.
