$200,000 goes to American Red Cross now
The Walt Disney Co. will donate $2 million in aid toward the relief efforts for the victims of the Southern California wildfires.
The company will send $200,000 to the American Red Cross for immediate relief while the remaining money is to be set aside for future rebuilding and restoration.
Disney will also assist the victims through its community outreach programs, which are scheduled to send care packages and organize Disney character visits over the next few weeks. A special event is also in the works in which the Disneyland resort will host a special day for firefighters and their families.
Disney characters will be appearing at Qualcomm Stadium and other shelter sites this week.
