Beauty pageant show to get three weekly slots
The CW is getting ready to unleash a triple play of new reality skein “Crowned.”
Net will premiere the mother-daughter beauty pageant at 9 p.m. Dec. 12, immediately following the season finale of “America’s Next Top Model.” CW execs are betting the “Model” aud will flow nicely into the potential “Crowned” audience.
Skein will move into its regular 8 p.m. Wednesday slot on Dec. 19, airing through Jan. 30.
The CW plans to repeat episodes of “Crowned” twice a week: Sundays at 9 and Tuesdays at 8. It’s one of the first times in memory that a broadcast net has slotted three weekly runs of a series on a regular basis.
Given the strong internal buzz surrounding “Crowned,” the December scheduling of the skein might seem a bit puzzling. However, given the mid-January return of “American Idol,” execs might be betting the slow holiday period could prove to be a good time to help the show get launched.
Carson Kressley, Shana Moakler and Cynthia Garrett are judges for “Crowned.” Skein is from Fox Television Studios.
