“I’m Not There” stars Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Charlotte Gainsbourg pranced down the Venice Film Festival red carpet Tuesday with helmer Todd Haynes to tubthump his Bob Dylan biopic.
Lido fans screamed “Richaaaard” as Gere, with wife Carey Lowell, signed autographs and pumped hands, while Ledger, sporting thick red-framed shades and a hat, seemed like he was somewhere else — a case of life imitating art.
Ledger finally removed his shades when taking his seat in the Palazzo del Cinema, where the highly experimental work was given a warm ovation.
Earlier in the week, the Lido paparazzi made a killing with the arrival of the “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” cast. Protag Brad Pitt strutted down the catwalk with Angelina Jolie in tow, along with co-stars Casey Affleck and Sam Shepard and helmer Andrew Dominik.
Earlier in the day, Pitt had irked the feisty photogs by refusing to remove his tinted shades during a photo call. But all seemed to be forgiven at the preem where a spruced-up Pitt arrived sans shades in a tux and graciously posed for the cameras.
