ProSieben series to be dubbed
BERLIN — Following the sale of its Teutonic “Ugly Betty” adaptation “That’s Life” to French broadcaster TF1 last year, ProSiebenSat 1 has again scored with new telenovela “Love Is in the Air” (Schmetterlinge im Bauch), which begins airing on Italian web Canale 5 this month.
The original skein, which airs on Sat 1 in Germany, follows a young woman who begins a new life as a flight attendant in Berlin after her fiance cheats on her with her best friend. Beginning April 16, the dubbed version, entitled “Cuori tra le nuvole,” or “Hearts in the Clouds,” will run Monday through Friday at 4.15 p.m. on the Mediaset-owned channel.
“That’s Life” has proved a hit in Germany as well as France, where audience shares have reached up to 52.9%.
Deal, which comes ahead of next week’s MIP TV content mart in Cannes, was closed by ProSiebenSat 1’s sales division SevenOne Intl.
SevenOne is unveiling 50 new shows at this year’s confab, which kicks off April 16.
Among company’s highlights this year are Sat 1’s anti-terrorist action series “Special Unit”; romantic skein “Finding Mr. Right,” about a young woman and her closeted gay roommate, both of whom fall in love with their new nextdoor neighbor; “Vienna Calling,” about the lives and loves of four young people living in the Austrian capital; and ProSieben’s smash hit “All Fairies Have Tails,” a lavishly produced series that spoofs the popular stories of the Grimm Brothers, starring high-profile German comedians.
